MRSA 2012 Semi-Finalist Stage comes to an end: Closing Comments

The time has finally come for the Semi-Finalist stage of the MR South Africa 2012 competition to come to an end. All Blogs must be updated by tomorrow and voting lines will close exactly at Midnight on the 9th of November 2011.
It has certainly been a busy but amazing ride through this phase of the competition and I can safely say that I have made the most of the opportunity.
This time around I did not waste any time; and started working from the first day that I got the good news of Semi-Finalist selection.
My Marketing campaign for the competition was nothing short of great as I managed a Newspaper Article (Benoni City Times); Magazine Article (Impressions Magazine) and 3 Radio Interviews (East Rand Stereo; East Wave Radio and Unity FM). I also handed out flyers with my voting line at Charity Walks and local venues in the area; utelised Facebook, Twitter, BBM and Email to get the word out regarding Fadeen Mia being a Mr South Africa Semi-Finalist.

I then took the opportunity to get involved with the Look & Feel Good Expo that took place at the Coca Cola Dome in Northriding, where I organised to be part of the Fitness Stand and ensured that I got my other Semi-Finalists involved as we showcased ourselves as MRSA contestants.

My Blog has received close to 3000 views from people in 10 different countries – You have to admire the power of social networking.
The MRSA Interview round was separated into 2 panel Interviews; but that just set the tone for a more exciting experience that I truly did enjoy.
As per the last communication regarding sms voting lines – I was sitting at number 9 on the poll.
One of the tougher aspects that I experienced over the last 2 and half months was the fact that I had to take my Wisdom Teeth out. Not only did it set me back with my gym routine for just over 3 weeks, but it also meant that I had to network looking like a chipmunk (LOL – see pic below)

But the big one had to be the “Chrysalis Football Tournament” that I hosted as my fundraiser for “The Chrysalis Foundation”. We had a day of competitive Football filled with great fun and amazing prizes, all in the name of a good cause. The Tournament ran smoothly and even though the estimated amount of teams did not show up, we still managed to raise a substantial amount of money with the teams that did pitch, all in the name of Chrysalis Foundation. (Please see all the relevant pics in an early Blog Entry)
We now await our fate as the Top 12 Finalists will be announced on the 26th November; and I wish all my fellow Semi-Finalists good luck.
I would like to thank all that have supported me through this journey; it has certainly been an amazing learning experience and one that I will not forget.
So... my blog is officially updated; all required funds raised for The Chrysalis Foundation have been deposited and the last few requests for votes has been asked.
Now ... I wait patiently for the announcement ... and hope that this incredible journey is not over J
