The Semi Final Stage: Closing Note

What a ride it has been - Being a busy Project Manger; a Sportsman; a Coach; a Mentor; a Leader and now being able to add an Ambassador to that list is truly a great honour.

Being new to the whole set-up, it certainly did take a week or two for me to understand just what was require being a Semi-Finalist; but once understood, I certainly did make my mark on the competition.
I have attended Radio Interviews, Charity Events, been published in Newspapers, photo shoots and got to raise money for a worthy cause while operating a full time job.
This was truly a reflection of why I do meet the requirements and profile of a future MRSA and a real South African man ... and believe it or not, I had fun every step of the way!

Through all of this I was able to bring my community together and the support that I have received is tremendous and overwhelming. Through the amount of sms votes that I have received, I can safely say that my Marketing Campaign was a success and I certainly have developed a decent backing for this competition.
Being of Indian descent, I have managed to get the Indian community involved in this competition and plan to keep spreading the involvement to all within South Africa.

Thank You to all that have supported me through this phase of the competition and to all the sponsors and media who have assisted and believed in my potential.
I do plan on making you all proud and hopefully becoming one of the MRSA Finalists for the next phase of this Pageant.

So now ... only time will tell - Please tune into Kyknet @ 9:30pm on the 9th of December when the Top 12 will be announced.

Regards and all the best.

Finalisation of Project "T"

After just over a month of planning and organisation, sales and Finance checks ... we reached the end of Project "T" which resulted in R7500 being raised from the distribution of T-Shirts to the community.
A huge Thanks goes out to my Football club, "Sporting Club of Benoni, Independiente" for all the hard work and support that was given through the lifecycle this project.
A job well done and a community united, we have shown our support to this worthy charity and I am certainly proud to stand where I am today.

Thank you to all that have supported this worthy cause ... we have done great!

Project T (Chrysalis Foundation Fund Raiser) - Thank You to all that supported.

Our Project as a MRSA Semi-Finalist was to ensure that we can raise funds for the Chrysalis Foundation. It was not about the amount that one can raise, but the way and how one goes about doing that. After having a few options and debating the pros and cons on what would be the ideal way forward, I settled on the idea of creating supporter T-Shirts that can be bought by all within our area.
The real driving factor was the fact that the T's would bear the MRSA and Chrysalis wording and the T-Shirts are certainly going to be worn for years to come.
In conjunction with my Football Club "Sporting Club of Benoni" we went public and sold to the community in which the response was incredible. "T's" were sold at R70.00 but there were certain other individuals who contributed much more towards our T-shirts and the Chrysalis Foundation.
After all the running around and major Sales negotiations over the past month, we sold all the product and managed to make R7500.00
In conjunction with the amazing donations that were given, I gave a Thank You evening for the big sponsors to appreciate what they had done and show my respect for amazing people with big hearts.

It is an amazing feeling to see people walking around the community with my T-Shirt on, proudly bearing the MRSA and Chrysalis name.
Only negative was "Time" - if we had more time we certainly could have sold many more T-Shirts as till today I am still being asked for one more "T"...
It was a great idea and huge thanks to my SCBI Team mates for all the effort; and the community for supporting so strongly!

East Wave Radio: Interview

"East Wave Radio" is a station that is based in Lenasia and broadcasts to listeners in the South of Gauteng. They do reach a huge amount of people so when I was offered the oportunity to market the competition and myself during a Live in Studio Interview with DJ Fazila on the afternoon show "Pasand Apni Apni" ... I certainly took the long drive down South.
We covered all areas of the competition and I was asked some interesting questions about myself which I handled professionally and smooth as always.
It was certainly a great Interview and the outcome was beautiful as listeners soon called in to show there support and backing for me.
The real proof was the fact that I moved from number 9 on the sms voting list to number 6 after this Interview, so a huge Thanks and Shout Out goes to East Wave and there Listeners - you are amazing...

Salvation army: Visit to the Family Care Centre

Charity Work has always been something that is close to my heart; so being an ambassador for the MRSA competition i decided to pay a visit to our local Salvation Army (Family Centre) for the afternoon. They house Pensioners, single parents and couples of all ages; serving 3 meals a day and providing shelter when needed.
Its truly unbelievable at what amazing people we have out there, I got to meet Major Diane and the Manager Caroline who runs the home and spends all there time assisting those in need in the Benoni region.
Ladies - you are Role Models to the community and an inspiration to me; thank you for welcoming me and allowing me to assist for the day.
Overall, it was a relaxing day as I got to spend time with the locals and enjoy a cup of tea with some interesting conversation.
Age truly does equal wisdom and that was the lesson for the day - Time well spent...

MAMA MIA: Benoni City Times Article

The exposure that was received and support that was given once this article was published ... was incredible.
My sms votes and Profile visits increased tremendously and I have now become a household name for the MRSA Title within the area that I live. I really do appreciate the backing that I am getting from the Benoni and surrounding areas - I do hope to make you proud and become a Finalist for the Mr South Africa 2011 competition.
MAMA MIA - Great front page headline I think...

Blue Chip Photo Shoot

Blue Chip Airlines have a fleet of luxury planes that are used and sold to interested parties who enjoy the upmarket lifestyle of Private Jets and Limousine Travel. So when the MRSA offices and SW Models gave the opportunity to become part of a Photoshoot that would assist in the advertisement of there company, I certainly raised my hand and drove down to the Wonderboom Airport for an experience I would not forget.
Being slightly new to the whole Photo and Model participation, I put my head down, took a deep breath and like all new adventures that I partake in; I gave it my all... and handled it like a pro.
Being one of the four MRSA semi-Finalists to join the in front camera crew, we certainly did have fun and proved why we are potential candidates for the Finalist group. Bonding with the other Models and Photographers was a great learning experience but have to admit that I did show much needed Leadership when required.
From Semi-Formal to Swimwear, we did it all while moving from Plane to Plane; then Limo to Limo and even a Firetruck.

The support from local people that came out to have a look at what was going on along the runway was tremendous and they even got included in some of the photos. At times I think they made better models than us, but it certainly opened my eyes to just how much work goes in to getting the right shot at the right time and at the right angle.
Thanks goes out to Blue Chip and the Photographers for getting such great pics of us - you really made me look good... not a bad way to spend the Saturday afternoon :)

"Johannesburg’s twin city populated exclusively by native people is Soweto. It is the largest township in the country consisting of 26 townships, each of which was designed to be independent. The township of Soweto as a whole could be called multiracial, in the sense that its residents are from all the tribes in South Africa.
The type of housing ranges from shacks to large mansions and there is one street where you can find the houses of two Nobel Peace Prize winners; Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Also located in Soweto is the Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital, thought to be the largest hospital in the southern hemisphere but despite this, almost 85% of the local residents still consult traditional healers who concoct medicines in their age old tradition.
Come and enjoy a cultural experience with some of the finalist of Mr. South Africa 2011.
Your five finalists and celebrity host for the day will meet you at a venue in Midrand for drinks from where you will depart in a luxury coach to the Soweto Township for an amazing day of fun, laughter, tears and exploration!
Explore the South African Culture like never before. Enjoy a traditional; but upmarket lunch and drinks at a local tavern before departing back to Midrand.

Project "T" (Official Project for the Chrysalis Foundation)

Welcome Project "T" - derived from the word T-Shirt, Project T will be the official sponsorship programme for the Chrysalis Foundation. We have invested in the creation of the attached shirt that will then be sold to the public and community to help raise funds for the Foundation.
Development of the T's were time consuming but orders were already taken and Lay Buys done so that we had an idea of what could be sold.
The real positive behind the T is that it will carry the MRSA and Chrysalis Foundation name for a much longer period - These tops will be worn by the community for years to come and hence, will hold the Brand for both entities in the future to come.

Together with my Football Club, "Sporting Club of Benoni, Independiente" we have gone to the community and got there involvement in this great Charity and created awareness towards the MRSA competition. I can certainly say that they are now fully behind my journey and dream of becoming a Finalist, while proving just what a great place we live in when they sponsor so generously towards our great cause.

Radio life is certainly an amazing industry - I had the pleasure of a Live Interview on "East Rand Stereo" during the Breakfast show on 93.9fm. The DJ's were great, they had there content lined up and asked some really interesting questions that did cover the detail of the competition; and myself as a Semi-Finalist.

Lotus FM - Interview (Midday Spice)

What a great day - After an email request to the famous Lotus FM radio station explaining the detail around the Mr South Africa Pageant and my inclusion as one of the Semi Finalists, I was graced with a call from the producer and given the opportunity of a telephonic interview. I certainly did not waste any time and before I knew it, I was live to South Africa during the "Midday Spice" show with Varshan Sookhun (Shown below).
The questions were basic but I gave as much detail as possible and certainly hope that the listeners did enjoy it.
Thank You to the Lotus Team and Varshan for the opportunity and time that they assisted me with, Im hoping to make them proud by hopefully qualifying as a Finalist come end of the month.

Standard Bank: Marketing Campaign

My Marketing Campaign has certainly been a busy one and so, my current employer would certainly not be kept out of the loop. "Standard Bank" has been kind enough to assist by helping me out with some PR work with regards to the MRSA competition. My Mr South Africa Semi Finalist details have been proudly distributed to the area that I work in and I have been keeping the readers updated on my progress through regular mails and updates.

Chrysalis Foundation (MRSA supported charity)

The Chrysalis Foundation offers Life Skill courses for girls between the ages of 14 and 18 that have been physically and mentally traumatised. I am proud to be associated with this organisation and have already started raising funds for this worthy cause.
Over the next few weeks, I will be presenting the sponsors who have shown there support and giving them the much required praise for there donations.
Please... watch this space!

CANSA (Charity event)

Charity work is a beautiful thing; but when you get the opportunity to make a difference on such a large scale, like assisting with a fund raising event by the "Cancer Association of South Africa" ... it truly is going to be a great day. The Event was held at the Sandton Sun and had non other than survivor contestant and MNET presenter Ashley Hayden as the host. A selected ten of the Mr South Africa Semi-Finalists got to assist with the fashion show and Auction; we got to meet a few of the Miss South Africa Earth Finalists but the real winner at the end of the day was that we helped raise lots of money for a worthy cause, like CANSA.
